It’s our mission and our goal to provide the best health food, supplements, and nutritional advice in the state. Our team is committed to Central Iowa, and we’re all focused on being positive, contributing members of our community.

85 Years as Iowa’s Beloved Health Food Store

Campbell’s Nutrition is Iowa’s first and oldest health food store in the state. Our store was founded as a natural food store by the Campbell family in 1937. While the country was trying to pull out of the Great Depression, the concept of a health food store was WAY ahead of its time. The Campbell family had a passion for nutrition and dreamed of a healthier community.

Their first store location was downtown on Locust Street. Diane Lahodny, a Drake student from Hawaii, took a job at Campbell’s Nutrition while attending college. She fell in love with the business and purchased the store. Thanks to the community’s support, Campbell’s has been running strong for 85 years!

Our longstanding history means our roots run deep in the Des Moines community. Campbell’s works to make a difference and help build a healthier community by providing quality products and being an educational resource for our customers. We love to partner with local vendors, support local non-profits, and give back to our community as much as possible.
